He is a boy!!!!

I know I rant more than I should, about my kids. But you tell me, wouldn't I for all the things they do? I know I have the company of a pretty good number of moms over here for how boys behave and their brains function.

My son has nice thick hair, but somehow its shape is weird. There is no certain style that I can comb it. Though I comb it, by the time he goes to school, it looks messy. In order to make him look neat, I oil it properly, take a side partition and comb it. Hmm..motherly efforts!!! Appreciate me.

Within a day he asks, amma can I take a shower? In his language, shower means washing the hair. Even though I say no, you know how it is. He starts bargaining. "You never let me do shower". As if I am saving on shampoo and not letting him be clean.

As his hair is oiled, I keep yelling in the background. Wash you hair properly. Use the shampoo in the white bottle with the black lid. He comes out after good 15 minutes, that too with us calling his name in a way the entire building and the neighbouring blocks understand we have a son, whose name is Rushi and his mom is abusing him while the poor child is trying to have a shower.

When I looked at him after 10 mins, I realise his hair is still oily. I inquire as with what he washed his head. As reckless as he could be, he pauses the TV, spins his head and says, " Ughhh!!! The white bottle with the black lid?, Happy?
Yes son, but what is the color of the liquid in it? " Uhho!! Whiteee....why do you ask me all these stupid questions?"
Now, it's my turn to scream, you dumbo...donkey..monkey...brainless...that is the conditioner. The shampoo is green in color. But you said white bottle with black lid. So, Ms Latha, next time be clear. The instruction should say, white bottle with black lid and green liquid inside.

If this was once, then I can easily forget it. After that day, I keep telling him, the green liquid is your shampoo and he knows it. At least I think so. On another day, his hair was oily again. Is it in a mom's blood to be skeptic all the time? He says, you never trust me!! Anyway, I ask, with what did you wash your hair today? "Ohh amma! that Victoria Secret thing at the top". Oh beta!! that Victoria Secret thing is a body wash, not a shampoo.
Now, who the hell told you to display your ensemble of bath, body works in a row? Next time, when he wants to shower, take a bag and pile the entire stuff into it and just leave the white bottle with black lid and green liquid in it, OKAY? (The last line is a self taught lesson to me).

My dear parents of boys out there, share your stories to make me feel better.. :)

His dream hair cut...The Mohawk Style..Just styled it for the crazy hair day at his school.

P.S: I know my story is supposed to follow the next episode, but it isn't ready. I didn't want my blog to be sleeping for so long...hence I found this from one of my drafts!!

  2. Your 2013 blog updates not appearing.Came through Bhagyareema's blog.
Though you have asked moms only to share their experiences,I will narrate mine with my two grandsons when they were young.I used to plead with them to allow me to comb their hair. While one brooked no interference with his head, the younger would bend his head out of deference and allow me to part and comb the hair to my satisfaction.I never knew that he went to the adjacent room and ran his fingers through his hair to restore it to original state till my daughter broke the news one day and asked me not to waste my time.
Kids are kids and Rushi I think teases you by giving the wrong answers.I like that boy.

  10. Wah wah, he looks so smart in that hairdo ;-). And seriously oil, uggh ;-). I would never let my mom oil my hair and send me out of the house. At least, be grateful that he is letting you oil them ;-P. In my case, both my sons have hair like topi. They never need to comb it. Sometimes, it gets in funny shapes after a night of sleep. Then my elder son puts a lot of water to make it flat. Apart from that, thank God they know how to use shampoo or else Maa Durga aka me will be a sight to behold :). Such fun these anecdotes.

  14. Oh My!! I can so relate to your state Latha!! My son is a master of mischief in the bathroom! He loves filling water in all the bottles, tries out different things, sometimes, he takes shower with a face wash, sometimes with a shampoo... he can even fill water in a tooth paste tube!! He can wash his hands with a shaving gel and loves building up the lather... God, I can go on and on about it... So, we have to keep shouting and keep giving him frequent instructions when he is in the bathroom!
You son is so cute!! :))
