A Weakness!!!

I have a weakness
A weakness that skips a beat
when I see those shiny purple
oval shaped things
My hand loses its sense of touch
when I feel the ridges
of the long dark green gourds
I forget counting
when I fill my bag
full of luscious red balls
I have a weakness
A weakness that makes
me weak in the knees
At the sight of
bunches of green leaves

I have a weakness
to cook in bulk
and
I have a weakness
to not waste food
 so I rub my weakness
on my poor family
to eat the same food
for a week!!

But then there are so many variants to the same vegetable especially the fresh looking bitter gourd and the purple brinjal

  11. Hi latha your topic for the poem is unique.Loved reading it. About leftover food, I too serve leftovers quite often but i present them differently. Lets say about bitter gourd. If the quantity is too much, I give it a new dressing on consecutive days. First it is served in its original form, next day we can add tofu to some portion and third day crush it and serve like scrambled subzi.By some imagination we can bring changes in most of the eatables.

    1. Usha ji, I didn't pick or choose to write on this. When I opened the friz, it just struck to me that there are only two curries and was thinking why I got so many vegetables and why I cooked so much and this came up :) Btw, I didn't get karela, I got Ridge gourd..Even, I am very creative in the kitchen :) Thank you for reading!!

  16. I knew a girl whose mother worked in a different city. She will come every weekend and cook the food for a whole week and keep it in the freezer.
I thought that was cool. :)

    1. It is cool, Amit. Because I come home from work, pick my son, again take him to classes and all that..I hardly will have time to cook fresh meals..so this is better than eating out. If I go to cook fresh food, I won't be having time to spend with my son..so no other go :(
