A Mom's Wish!!!

When I was pregnant : My Wish -  I just wish it's a boy!!
As we both were girls, I wanted my baby to spare the troubles that we faced as girls.

When my son was an year old : No wishes then. I was just happy to see him walk, learning to talk and impress us with his smiles and new learnt joys.

When he was 4 years old : My wish -  I wish he just stays at school without being expelled for his mischief.

When he was 7 years old : My wish -  I wish my son becomes a Pilot.

When he was 9 years old : My wish - I just want my son to become a compassionate human being who can respond to needs.

Now, he will turn 10 in another couple of weeks : My strongest wish ever - I pray god my son doesn't turn into a perverted rapist!!

As humans, we all have plenty of wishes and dreams of our kids. And I think I am one such hopeful parent. For the past few years, my goal has been to rise a son who would be a good citizen.  These days, unfortunately, with the turn of events happening around us, all I could hope for is my latest wish. :(

  2. Yes Latha the most important thing is that our children should be decent human beings.
You don't need to fear on that score. After all parenting & parents' genes count a lot, which are just fine.

  4. You have wasted a wish! For he will be never be one like that. The ethical values of the family, the upbringing, the education and the good company he would likely be in would make for an admirable person and cut him out for a career that you would be proud of.
Rapists come from totally a different background with frustrations, wrong company, life of vices and want and addiction to liquor. But your anguish at the happenings all around reported in media is understandable.

  5. Wah! All parents are concerned about the future of their children. There is no need for you to worry about your son's future. He is growing in an atmosphere where good values are inculcated right from childhood.

  6. Being good human beings is what that we all want our kids to be. While it is understandable for you to think this way, but just dont worry at all about the last one... with the right value systems and upbringing and education our sons will make us proud and happy! :)

  8. How bad things around us have become! We as parents of boys have more responsibility to ensure we raise them to become sensitive and kind human beings.

  12. Like how KP sir has mentioned, what matters is the upbringing and the morals that are practically taught. People can help one person grow, but how a person grows up depends on his attitude and the influence of the environment. So you need not worry :-) He'll turn out to be an amazing human being.

  13. Yes, it is a scary world out there. God knows who can come in contact with your child and spoil his mind.
Anyways, don't worry. I am sure his upbringing will always shield him.
