I have a weakness
A weakness that skips a beat
when I see those shiny purple
oval shaped things
My hand loses its sense of touch
when I feel the ridges
of the long dark green gourds
I forget counting
when I fill my bag
full of luscious red balls
I have a weakness
A weakness that makes
me weak in the knees
At the sight of
bunches of green leaves
I have a weakness
to cook in bulk
and
I have a weakness
to not waste food
so I rub my weakness
on my poor family
to eat the same food

LOL! I guess even I have a weakness. Also being a vegetarian what all options we have.
ReplyDeletehehehe....I know, Saru. And these fresh veggies from the Indian store are so tempting...my goodness, can never buy less :)
DeleteYou naughty girl!Feeding the same stuff to your family for a week?I am surprised they do not revolt!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHehehe....they don't have much choice here, aunty. If they do, they are most welcome to cook their own meals :)
DeleteLOL :D What a unique subject to write a poem on!! Cooking in bulk and not wasting the food too ... hats off to your family. In our case they would revolt! :D
ReplyDeleteThank you, Shilpa :) Kya kare yaar? yeha pein no maid to give the leftovers..so family members play the role :D Ya, no wasting food ka aadat bachpan ka hi.. :)I am lucky in that matter..they realise my hard work..after 3 days hubby says, when did you cook this? a month back? LOL
Deletehehe But same food for a week :-P!
ReplyDeleteNah re...I cook different curries and serve one each day. But this time, the above mentioned veggies ended up in BIGGG boxes and two curries served for a week :P..the main course differs yaar. One day roti, one day cracked wheat, one day salad, one day quinoa...see I am not repeating!!! you are saying same food...ahahahaah
DeleteMere ghar par toh everyone wants pakwaan every single time. Woh toh ghar chhod kar bhaag jayenge ;-).
DeleteHahaha...lucky they :) Now, the lil devil is going to arrive by this month end, I will have enough trouble to balance my son and hubby :)
DeleteOMG. Poor hubby, kid and of course you compelled to live on two sabzis for a week all because you have a weakness to cook in large quantity. You are kidding,I know.
ReplyDeleteBut then there are so many variants to the same vegetable especially the fresh looking bitter gourd and the purple brinjal
LOL...I am not kidding, KP Sir. Btw, I didn't make variants of the same vegetable. I cooked only one variant :) Btw, I didn't buy bitter gourd. I got Ridge gourd. I didn't get a pic of both of them together..so, I just put whatever I got :P
DeleteHa ha , I have a weakness too but I don't cook for a week :P
ReplyDeleteIf I don't, then I have to cook everyday, and I will hardly get time to spend with my son. :)
DeleteGoodness me...better start taking multi-vitamins to get rid of weakness asap! Poor family members..they endure, crib silently, and move on!!LOL....incorrigible gurls!!*shaking head8
ReplyDeleteMy dotty is just like you!!grrrr....lazy..lazy!!:)
Loved this poem!!Smiles.
hehehee...all my readers got it totally wrong!! :D You all are thinking, they crib. But they don't..In fact, my son asks for a 2nd serving. Imagine what a wonderful cook I must be..:P okay, think I'm your 2nd daughter and also similar one ...:D Thank your for reading!!
DeleteNow I know why they celebrate the Women's Day! To endure the weakness, Latha:)
ReplyDeletehaahahaha....can't stop laughing at this one. Thank you for understanding, Rahul sir. Btw, is this a compliment or a sarcastic comment? :P
Deleteha ha :D loved the subject...
ReplyDeleteIdle woman's brain is a creative workshop!! Thanks for liking, Jas :)
DeleteYou have a weakness for shopping for veggies and cooking! Please, will you marry me?
ReplyDeleteHehehee....can you eat the same food for a week? Then, I will :)
DeleteHi latha your topic for the poem is unique.Loved reading it. About leftover food, I too serve leftovers quite often but i present them differently. Lets say about bitter gourd. If the quantity is too much, I give it a new dressing on consecutive days. First it is served in its original form, next day we can add tofu to some portion and third day crush it and serve like scrambled subzi.By some imagination we can bring changes in most of the eatables.
ReplyDeleteUsha ji, I didn't pick or choose to write on this. When I opened the friz, it just struck to me that there are only two curries and was thinking why I got so many vegetables and why I cooked so much and this came up :) Btw, I didn't get karela, I got Ridge gourd..Even, I am very creative in the kitchen :) Thank you for reading!!
Deletebeautiful poem. cheers

Welcome here!! Thank you!
DeleteThank you Ashwini...hmm..what do I say now? you do something for 10 years without escape, what would it be if not a weakness? :)
ReplyDeleteHaha good one. I was wondering if you were talking about fruits or sweets. Hehe vegetables are never my weakness, that way Sarath is lucky.
ReplyDeleteMy weakness are dresses for the gals, can't help it even if closet is running out ;) .
Sweets are my personal weakness, Haritha :) Fresh veggies have become a weakness from compulsion over the years..Yes, Sarath is lucky :) Wont you tell him that? Pleasee :) Don't you worry. You have two beautiful girls...enjoy them completely :)
Deletegood weakness:)
ReplyDelete:) hehe...I missed you here..glad to see you back :)
DeleteI knew a girl whose mother worked in a different city. She will come every weekend and cook the food for a whole week and keep it in the freezer.
ReplyDeleteI thought that was cool. :)
It is cool, Amit. Because I come home from work, pick my son, again take him to classes and all that..I hardly will have time to cook fresh meals..so this is better than eating out. If I go to cook fresh food, I won't be having time to spend with my son..so no other go :(
