Make a difference!

Few days back, on one of these summer evenings, I was at the light rail station to buy my ticket. I noticed that someone left an used ticket in the machine. I checked the date and time and found that it is valid for another hour. So, I kept the ticket and it saved me $2.50. Thanks to that one person who left the ticket (for me). Oh Wait! It made me thinking. Did I take someone else's opportunity of being benefited by that ticket? Because I can afford for one. But then, if no one picks it up before the expiration time, it's of no use. Come on girl, you worry too much. Just do what you got to do.  From that day, I make it a point to leave my used ticket at the station I get off, so that someone else could use it.

    1. You know what Saru? Today, my friend called me to take a ticket for her as she got into the train in a hurry and I found a free ticket again. Passed on the same message to her and she said, she'll leave the ticket everyday..:)

  8. Good.It is like parking time already available in the meter when we park our cars.
But then are we not denying the railways their legitimate due if we consider that tickets are not transferable?Juust a thought.

    1. The ticket does not have any to and from on it. The station you purchased is printed on it though. It is valid for 2 hours after you purchase it and it is valid on buses and trains both. Btw, I am not so much of a nice person. I am real evil at times..:P

  10. KP's point is what struck me first - that the Railways are being denied revenue. You are a nice and sensitive person. The problem is that we find it difficult to be sensitive to the problems of impersonal organisations like the Railways :)

    1. You are right. We are denying railways their revenue. My point was, many people take the trains without tickets. And some of them can't afford to take one. That fare price could give them a meal. In case they are caught, they have to pay a fine. So, may be my ticket could save them some from fine..and about the Govt. hmm..I don't want to worry about them now..:) Thx for the comment.
