While I lie down snuggled in my comforter coughing and waiting for the call from my doctor's for an appointment; I open FB on my cell and see Corinne's post. I always wanted to take part in the Write Tribe but I can never push myself to participate.
This time for a change, 11 Things Every Woman Should Write Down Before the Year Ends really prompted me to move my aching limbs and muster some energy to make few thoughts process in this otherwise dead brain.
1. What Younger You Would Like About Present You
The Younger me would like the matured, responsible, more compassionate and more patient 'me' that is now. My younger me would be surprised how the conventional girl grew up to be an unconventional woman.

2. The Watched/Read It List
Watched some silly telugu movie last night. Had not been reading anything for few months. The last books I completely read was 'A Breath of Fresh Air' and 'The Mango Season' both by Amulya Malladi. I got 'The Giver' and returned it without completing. Next is 'The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate' on my list to read.
3. The Mistake You Never Want to Make
Do not share your email password. And to not repeat the mistakes made once.
4. Your Ideal Outfit
A starched cotton chudidaar or a neatly pressed formal dress to work. Why I am not wearing it right now? Because I love to be in my nighty when I am home.
5. A Deep, Dark--Shhh --Secret
When it is deep and dark, that means it is a secret. How can I disclose it? ;)
6. The Most Unexpected Compliment You Ever Got
I am a sucker for compliments. Had to crack my brain on this one. I was talking to my sister in law on the phone one day and she said, her husband wanted to talk to me once. He is like a an older brother to me. He said, "Prudhvi, I have seen that green bowl you have sent us. When I look at that thing on the table, it's amazing. You are very talented. I do not know much about art, but that is wonderful". It was a fused glass bowl.
7. That one Quote
Forgive, forget.
Wanted to add one more. When you have it, you don't know the value of it.
Wanted to add one more. When you have it, you don't know the value of it.
8. The Best Surprise You've Ever Had
Problems are the only surprises that come in plenty for me. Had to think very hard on this one too. The best pleasant surprises are the chance encounters I had with friends.
9. Your True Happiness
Always in quest of that. Right now, it would be being hale and healthy. Have an empty house. I don't have to cook or clean. Take my favourite book, snuggle in my blankie with a bowl of snack and keep munching and reading.
10. Your Favorite Failure
I haven't had any great successes in life. Any failure would be bitter. On much contemplation, I think my favorite failure would be failing to get a job using our contacts. No one in circles helped me find one. What I got, is my hard work and luck :)
11. An Amendment to the Bucket List
I don't have a list right now but plenty of thoughts in this restless head. Wanted to spend a part of my life with NGOs. Retire in a remote village. Something that popped up today late evening was to do M.A in English Litt. Above all, want to make peace with this life of mine.
P.s: No one tagged me, still I decided to go ahead and write this post. I hope it's okay and I am not breaking any rules. :) Thank you for inspiring, Corrine!!!
HEY I LIKE YOU :)
ReplyDeleteI love how you turned from being conventional to unconventional. I am jealous about your reading list. I am proud of you for that favorite failure part.
Good going !!
Blush...blush...see, I told I am a sucker for compliments :P It was an evolving process of growing. Don't be jealou I read one book in three months. :) Thank you for the wishes and for reading.

ReplyDeleteAyyo Nagini...nenaa...I read them three months back. :) Happy reading year ahead for you!! Thanks for the wishes.
DeleteEnjoyed reading your 11 things...
ReplyDeleteDo not share your email password... I can smell an interesting story for this one!!
Finding a job on your own... am sure the joy and happiness of this achievement must be bringing in lots of smiles of satisfaction and contentment and pride too!!
Good luck for your bucket list!! :)
Thank you, Shilpa. LOL....not a story, you can write a book ;) Yes, more than happiness there is a kick I feel about it when I think of it. :) I hope I will be able to tick off at least one thing in that bucket.
DeleteGet well Latha and greet the new year with a healthy shine.Getting a job on your own merit is the true success.
ReplyDeleteLove n hugs.
Thank you aunty. I am really tired of being sick this whole year. I am not a meritorious student :) God's grace :) Hugs to you too!
DeleteEnjoyed reading your eleven points. Each one is unique in itself. Finding a job on your own, speaks a lot about your will power and merit. Good luck! Wish you and your family a very Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteMy pleasure!! Glad you enjoyed reading them. I am not at all strong willed, Usha ji :( God's grace and a bit of luck added to my hard work, I believe. Thank you for the wishes and kind words. Wish you and your family, a very Happy New year too :)
DeleteFantastic list there, Latha. That forgive, forget thing I find so hard to do. I can forgive but forgetting just does not come to me. I completely agree about sharing the email password bit. And yes, quite loved your description of a day when there are no chores to do and I can just snuggle with a book in a blanket. Your first point I could relate to a lot. Though, I am still the same feisty, independent person, experience has made me mature and more patient. I would like to improve my calmness and patience more though. And of course, one quality I would love to work on is not getting provoked easily. For me, it has been the other way around. I get more easily provoked now as compared to when I was younger. Lovely post!
ReplyDeleteYou made my last day of the year. Hey, listen...I like that quote..not that I implement it all the time. Do you really think I am that modest? :P I am like you, honey. May be I can forgive, but never forget. Glad you could relate to many things..see, great minds think alike :P...hehehe..For m,e I would like to improve on my impulsive nature. I can understand why you get provoked easily. The system. The system you are living in right now, is not an easy one to deal with. Thank you for all the lovely words. :)
DeleteNice list and its prompting me too to writew something similar:).
ReplyDeleteWish you a happy New year!
Thank you Renu. I am glad my list inspired someone to make their own :)
DeleteA very Happy New year to you and your family too!!
Ashwini, I think I need to change that line. I can forgive, but not forget. I am not that modest as you think..:P Forgiving, you will be there one day, eventually. With age, you will get the maturity, I bet.
ReplyDeleteA very Happy new year to you too!!
hey, I don't think I broke the rules. So, you are good to go!!! Would love to read your list as well..
Firstly, A very Happy new Year! :)
ReplyDeleteSecondly, Failures are the pillars to success! Hard work and dedication is really important for every success! And yes no one helps you in bitter times, its hard work that pays!
A really good read! :)
Thank you Preeti!! Wish you a very Happy new Year too!!
DeleteAlong with failures,I also think need. The 'need' drives a man to achieve.
Welcome to this blog and thank you for reading!!!
Loved your post for it's honesty, Prudhvi. You know I did my when I was in my mid-thirties - so it's never to late to chase your dreams, my friend! And I'd love to see some of your art too. Happy New Year to you and your family! ♥
ReplyDeleteAww...thank you for your words of encouragement, Corinne. Yes, I remember reading once that you did yours in mid-thirties...I am already in mid-thirties :) You can see my art if you click the Stained Glass label on the left side. I have to start doing it again. I had to put in a lot of effort learning it, I wish to continue the art form sooner. Thank you!!
DeleteI like your list. Thank you. I hope you are having a very happy new year.
ReplyDeleteThank you Lady Lilith. Welcome to this space and a very happy New year to you too!
DeleteI can forget BUT never forgive :) Do hope you are already well - I am sure you want to be ready for more compliments and no failures :)
ReplyDeleteThis post was great - honest and pithy.
Look, who's here!! Such a pleasure to see your comment, Suresh! Yes, I am feeling a bit better, thank you! I am the opposite...can forgive, but cannot forget.
DeleteAnd thank you for reading and such a heart felt comment :)
What a lovely honest post. I guess I can forgive and forget 75 percent. The rest somehow stays.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year 2014.
:)
I think some or the other percent remains for all of us...after all, we are humans, right? :)
DeleteThank you for the sincere compliment dear. A happy new year to you too. :)
A lovely post, straight from the heart. Loved reading all the answers and that quote - when you have it, you don't value it - you nailed it! I try to remind myself to be more and more grateful for all my blessings each passing day. Wish you and your family a very happy new year :)
ReplyDeleteExactly, Arti. I never realised that before. But these days, when I see so much misery around, then I feel, I am so blessed. A Happy new year to you too. May you travel so much more and bring us the beautiful travelogues. :)
DeleteGreat post, loved reading, forgiving is possible, forgetting is a challenge... thanks for sharing ...
ReplyDeleteThank you Angela..Sure, it is. But if we all could get there one day, then there would be so much peace.. Welcome to this space. :)
