Sarvendriyanam, Nayanam Pradhanam!!
Indriyam means senses in Sanskrit. The five senses of the human body are Sight, Smell, Taste, Touch, and Hearing. As each sense has its own importance, vision takes priority above all. What would we do without our eyes? Can we close our eyes for a day and see how it feels like? Or at least a few hours?
One would be shocked to know the number of people who are visually challenged. Please Click here to check the facts. How many of us know that some parts of our body could be used for others in need after we are gone?
When granny was alive she would say, the only part you can use in my body is my eyes and please give them to someone. We followed her last wish and donated her eyes. Following her footsteps, I decided to be of use to someone later if not now.
They say practice before you preach. So, did I. I signed up here. Will you too?
Eyes are the widow to one's soul, they are the first one's which catch ur atteention.

ReplyDeleteMeaningful post Prudhvi. And you have beautiful eyes.
ReplyDeleteI have :) If they can be useful to someone after you are gone, why let them go to waste?
ReplyDeleteYou have beautiful eyes, Latha!! And yes, I have registered myself as an Organ Donor, got a card too for that!
ReplyDeleteOnly when I had cataracts in both eyes did I realize how much I depended on my sight!
ReplyDeleteGreat post, Latha! You're an inspiration.
An inspiring thought, Latha. I've seen this at close quarters so I can relate to the importance of your post.
ReplyDeleteIt is amazing how much we can tell about someone just by looking at someone's eyes. My husband has an incredible way of telling me so much about someone just by looking at their eyes. I also believe it is true when we look at a dog's eyes!
ReplyDeleteDonating our eyes is the most noble thing to do. Kudos to you for spreading awareness.

Thank you Uncle Jack...for visiting here and reading all the posts..I have got your other comments too...thanks for the support..hope all is well with you.
DeleteLovely post... I used to always get compliments for my eyes. Though I never thought that they are as big and beautiful as ppl say, I gladly accepted their praise. I love to donate my eyes. And I ll definitely do it. My memories go back to the green-eyed beautiful Aishwarya Rai Bachhan winning the Miss World title and promoting the eye donation camp. My decision was made then! :) :)
ReplyDeleteYou have two lotus eyes.......
ReplyDeleteYa donating eyes is something which I also intend to do.
Aww...thank you so much Sitara...you made my day with that compliment ...blush blush :)
